The dreck yachneh you refer to is now, effectively, a prisoner in Israel as if said dreck yachneh sets foot back in Blighty, they will be arrested. Have you got a link for that at all, Des? It is my understanding that the person concerned is still subject to arrest if they set foot or attempt to set foot on UK soil.

She evidently only paid the wholesale price, like the overblown shopkeeper she always was.

Thanks CC ...... saved me looking it up

The agreement to settle for less was, of course, with the Tory council

Many thanks for that. Cloggy. Very informative and enlightening. Can you imagine councils all over England and Wales being investigated in a similar way?

                    Re: misuse of privilege card

So,you purchased this item using your privilege card and decided that same day you didn't want it? Why didn't you just return it and get your money back?
Could your reason be you already knew you could get much more for it by selling it on to a 3rd party quickly,,even though you knew it was against company policy?

Are you sure it was a 'disgruntled employee# who dobbed you in? How would they know it was your ebay account? Why would they to such extremes to get you in the crap?
I would imagine your employers,as well as most other well known shops, keep a pretty close eye on 'popular' items being purchased at this time of year by employees.

Sorry to go against all the other posters on here but I personally think you broke the rules, you pay the consequences,,and lets be totally honest here,,it does all sound rather suspicious.
The company have rock solid proof of you flogging the item pretty quickly after purchase and dressing it up or stripping it down to basics,,you did it....and the time frame does not work in your favour at all.

i told friends that i bought it and was unsure if i wanted it or its competitor, friends said i could sell it online and make some money as they are sold out till 2014

Are you sure it was a 'disgruntled employee# who dobbed you in?
i am 110% due to the fact that after the meeting my store manager told me the person who brought it to her attention and it is the same person who i have had problems with in the past

How would they know it was your ebay account?
i told a member of staff i had put it on ebay and i know it is stupid of me but at the time i didnt think i had done anything wrong, this person could of told this other person who is not keen on me and then i know this for a fact as store manager told me that he has gone online and looked for my ebay listing partly due to my user id having my name in it and printed a screenshot of my listing and taken it to my store manager

Why would they to such extremes to get you in the crap?
this person who brought it to my store managers attention has had problems with me due to me having to issue warnings to him for poor performance eg not signing daily legal log books

i understand now that i have broken the rules but i never set out to buy to sell its only after changing my mind and talking to friends that i broken the rules and if i was aware that if i did buy and sell to 3rd parties i would of never of done it
if i also knew that i was doing something wrong then surly i would of not put them on my own ebay user id and i also wouldnt of even mentioned it to anyone.

and i think getting dismissed for that at xmas after 8 years with the company is kinda harsh considering that i havent broken any laws only tesco policy

as some people have mentioned how long would i have to keep the item before i am allowed to then sell it on

How very sweet of your store manager to glibly tell you who dobbed you in...nothing like stirring shite between colleagues is there? And surely she ,herself, has broken company policy by doing so??

I really hope you don't get sacked over this,it's not as if you've made a full time hobby out of it.
You've dropped a goolie, you now know what you did was against company policy but you didn't do it intentionally and you won't do it again.
And as for screenshots of your ebay account being printed off and shown to the Manager,,is that the type of snake they want working for them?
You say you have had to speak to the disgruntled employee about certain things,,are you a supervisor or such like?

Inca has summed things up quite succinctly. You've dropped a goolie and probably gone against company policy, not committed the Crime of the Century.

Tesco's staff policy appears to be "Act in haste, repent at leisure," and this has proven to be very expensive for them in the past, especially where Tesco has made allegations against employees that have been subsequently dismissed as No Case to Answer or Not Guilty by the courts, or they have been rightly panned by ETs for acting in a disproportionate manner.
