Re: help for a friend with no internet, regarding racism accusation

She still has the right to be accompanied in the hearing, although I suspect she would rather get it out of the way she is within her rights to have it delayed while someone else is asked to attend with her given the correct notice.

Is it the same people as in the first hearing or have they agreed to a different panel?

And yes, her letter was good, got the right points in etc, she will however need to speak lol. Make sure she has her head around what is going to be said, i.e who the "high profile officer" was etc.

I suspect that she will receive a decision tomorrow, followed up by the decision in writing, that is normal procedure so make sure she is aware of that and fully prepared to accept any decision as this is her last shot.

Nice that you are going with her, hope all goes well.

it is a higher manager and another person not previously involved i believe.

i think she just wrote it to give her a clear mind so she didn't confuse what she was saying, sort of a pointers list for her.

I hope it works and they give her her job back (though i doubt it) as she has struggled these past couple of weeks with her bills.

Although from what she has said her daughter doesnt want her to go back to work as she has enjoyed spending time with her mum lol

Whatever the outcome, she`s at least given it her best shot. Good that the panel is different, makes it more objective.

If she is struggling with bills etc, point her in the right direction making sure she prioritises, rent/mortgage, council tax, etc etc and feel free to post for help with this in the appropriate forum.

Thank you for all your help

Unfortunately they upheld the original stating that the word "paki" is deemed offensive, racist, discriminatory and apparently violent.

She is very upset but nothing else can be done so just gotta hope she can find another job.

She did ask what they do for references and was told they just state when she started what she did and when she left unless they are asked for a specific reason then they would disclose.

Which is utter nonsense - no mere word can ever be "violent".

There were, however, other mitigating factors in that case - not least of which was that madness may run in that family.

What is so terribly wrong with stating that a person from that part of Asia would be unlikely to work in a factory handling pork?

Sorry to read the bad news, mysticphoenix.

It was a long shot, & with others involved being, shall we say, rather 'inventive' with the truth, it was always going to be a hard one to win.
