Legal working hours, night security guard UK

Hi,

I am 21 and working as a full time static security guard my current rota is Wed - Thur - Fri - Sat - Sun nights. Wed - Fri 5pm-7am three 14 hours and Sat-Sun two 12 hour 7pm-7am.

Total 66 hours per week for 6.20P/H no overtime no nothing for any ammount of hours, i signed a 4 on 4 off 48 hour contract turns out after i had signed and took the job i had signed a 48 hour opt out contract.

Are the hours i am working legal i literally live at work 4/5 shifts on my own and am barely getting any sunlight i only get to do anything tuesday the rest i sleep/work i don't even get a proper meal other than once a week.

Sorry - the hours are legal. There is no requirement for an employer to pay overtime, and you should read what you sign before you sign it. What you are describing is fairly common practice in security. You may find a very few employers with better hours, but the difference is going to be marginal, so if this doesn't suit you then your best option is to start looking for other work.
