  • Resignation or Formal Grievance

    England.
    FTE for 8 years.

6 months ago I moved roles internally (my choice) to a new role that was being developed.

6 months on, the role that was advertised, I applied for and was awarded has failed to materialise. I have spent maybe 3 months doing little to nothing, and 3 months doing work which does not fit the job brief and is not interesting or challenging to me.

I have sent several emails stating this and also that i am not happy and am feeling very unsupported. I have received no responses to any of the emails and nothing has changed.

I now want to exit the company immediately - the ideal position for me would be to be paid my 2 months notice but then to part ways immediately (not gardening leave), and I think I can demonstrate the business' failings over the last 6 months that has led me to this decision.

My question is, should I raise this request and evidence as a formal grievance, or make this request as part of my resignation?

    Thank you
    Francois

This is something for you to negotiate with your employer.

The strict legal answer is that your contractual notice period applies; you want to try to persuade them to take a different course. So it comes down to the points you can make to persuade them.
