Hi,
In August 2023 I started a new job,
The understanding at that time when i was employed was that i can be in the office once a week or when required.
Recently there has been a policy change to hybrid working, From September we will be require to do 12 days a month.
This has obviously upset quite a lot of colleagues.
Issues are there are some departments not required to be in 12 days, just 4 days, which has also raised a few eyebrows!!!.
The idea is to get colleagues talking to each other, this is why they are implementing it.
I have checked my contract and doesn't mention anywhere with my agreement to be in once a week and my manager who originally hired me no longer works at the company.
We have the option to request changes to this via a flexible working request, I don't want to fill this out just yet as i don't want a spotlight on me and want to know my rights fully before i start any procedures.
Is there anyway i can argue that my work doesn't require to be in the office 12 days a month and can be left as it is now where i am in when required or once a week?
Are there any other options?
My main issues with this is, that the office is in London, and I live outside of London with my family. My wife also works and is required to be in her office 5 days a week, which she can do as I can be at home to look after the kids.
With this new policy it will disrupt our current lives whilst also increasing the costs travelling to london and extra curricular clubs for the kids for the hours we won't be able to pick them up.
If there is any advice? I can't really lose my jo over this!
If i didn't have 2 young children, this wouldn't really be an issue!
