In your original post you say part of the offer is paid leave in lieu of notice. Pay in lieu is usually paid as a lump sum after your leaving date. The alternative is garden leave, ie you do not have to work during your notice, but remain employed until the end of your notice and get paid during your leave in the regular way. So for example if they want you to work until the transfer date and then take garden leave for 3 months your actual leave date would be at the end of those 3 months. If they pay pay in lieu your leave date would be at the beginning. This difference can have an impact on the National Insurance you will pay.

Just as a point of correction you can only be put on garden leave if there is a clause in your contract that allows this.
