I am a colleague at Tesco I’ve been accused of theft by a union member she followed me around the store while I picked up a sandwich and water bottle and I was late to clock in so I left it in the fridge but had a long shift and intended to pay for it on my break as I was eager to clock in on time. I also had a very stressful day coming into work. I was then just before my break called in for a meeting for my suspension where they said they’d investigate I told them what happened and that I’d pay for it now but they didn’t let me and just kept it as evidence. I want to know would they check the CCTV cameras only for that day or the rest of the month as well. And what I can do in this situation because I am very stressed about it and cannot sleep. Thank you

Hello. I'm sorry to hear you are feeling stressed about your situation. They can check cctv for the rest of the month if they feel it has relivance to the investigation, there'd be no point in having it otherwise. All you can do is be honest with them about your intentions. As it stands you've taken control of goods that don't belong to you by removing them from the shop floor, and they appear to be following company procedure by investigating.
