  • Redundancy trail period advice

Hi - My role has recently been put at risk where the business was making my role redundant, I've applied for an alternative role in a bigger position within the business which I have been successful, with my trial period starting on the 1st July for a 4 week period. Within the letter i received from HR, it states that if within the 4 week period the business deems me not suitable, or that I find the role not suitable, I can end the trial period and receive the redundancy package which was on offer at the point of my old contract ending. I'm considering now taking the redundancy and actioning the exit within my trial period. I'm of the understanding that I need to give reasons as to why I would not continue with the new role, i'm 4 days into the trial period with no contract, with bigger responsibility than my old job with no increase in reward and no clear structure as to my new role which is giving me sleepless nights as stressed about the role, as i'm currently still doing my old role as well as trying to transition into my new. I would like some advice please in regards to the trial period, and is it as easy as advising my business I now do not want to continue with the new role and redundancy actioned? Thanks in advance

Have you spoken to anyone abut your concerns? If not I would suggest that you do that in the first place. You should have been provided with maybe not a new contract but updated details of the new role such as the job description, including reporting structure etc. You can also discuss the transition from your old role and timescales for that completing.

If those discussions do not change your position, then you need to set out the reasons as to why is is not a suitable alternative role for you and to confirm that in accordance with the letter dated xxx you which to receive the redundancy package.
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
