  • work agency told not to hire anymore men

My work has undergone huge growth recently and has been recruiting for numerous new roles. The sites main workforce is manufacturing hands on engineering and has traditionally been heavily dominated by men.

They have expanded the logistical support elements and have filled these roles with women in the majority, with the head of HR (Europe) stating she only wants women in these roles and to specifically recruit women for management roles.

Now I heard the recruiting agency say they have reached there limit for men on the shop floor and they can only hire females for the manufacturing side and won't be interviewing men/putting them forward for vacancies.
Is this legal? As a team leader I want the best candidate for roles and the HR department definitely have an agenda which is openly misandristic

Are you certain that this information is correct? If so, it could well be unlawful.

My suggestion would be for you to check the facts with management.
