  • Payslip disclosure

    Hello,
I have disclosed some parts of my payslip to a colleague. I don't have any confidentiality clause in my contract regarding the salary and other financial things but my employers sends my payslips as "private and confidential". Can it cause any legal problem for me?
Also, if my colleague disclose my payslip details to others(e.g. his manager) without my consent is it a potential GDPR breach?

Private and confidential is as it says. You may need to check any policies that your company has on place in this subject.

All I would say is did you ask that person not to disclose anyone else?
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
If you have any doubts then do please seek professional legal advice.

You gave information about yourself in a private capacity to another person who is also a private individual. He is not an organisation processing your data. Therefore GDPR does not apply to him and if your work friend disclosed it to someone else he would not be breaching data protection laws.

It's possible a disclosure by him could breach his employment contract but your post suggests it wouldn't.
