Can a Training Agreement be voided if the employee felt under pressure / coerced into signing it?
My partner's employment contract made no provision for who would pay for any compulsory training.
He was told nearly 12 months after joining that he'd need to do some compulsory training. Still no mention of payment until the day of the course.
On the day of the course, with the trainers in the room, he was given an agreement to sign to say he'd repay the costs on a sliding scale should he leave the company. Failure to do the training would, according to the agreement lead to the termination of his contract.
He felt under pressure to sign, as failure to sign would mean him losing his job.
Is the agreement enforceable?
