  • Employer refusing Subject Access Request

My employer is refusing to divulge information claiming it is exempt. They state "where we have identified information consisting of management information that is of a business nature neccessary for management planning and forecasting" this information is omitted. However the information they are referring to relates to a departmental reshuffle that was planned and announced last year. Has this exemption been interpreted correctly?

They are also refusing to supply any information relating to "Teams" chats, claiming they are exempt too.

Be grateful for any advice, thanks

There is an exemption from SAR requests for "Management information".

What other exemptions are there? | ICO

Whether what they have witheld from you actually falls within that exemption I can't say.

Do they say why "Teams" meetings are exempt? Most "Teams" meetings I am in aren't recorded so there would be nothing to disclose.
All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.

Yes, but isn't the reason for this exemption to keep future plans etc in case revealing the information could jeopardise the plans? The plans referred to were announced last year.

Speak to the people at the ICO. I've spoken to then a few times and they're very helpful. Helped me with a SAR complaint I raised against my former employer, and found their behavior to bean "infringement of the legislation".
