  • Breach of contract claim

I recently made a claim for breach of contract against a company that subcontracted me for a long term project- they lied during contract negotiations and dismissed me when it can to light they did not have a client agreement to proceed with the work. I made the claim in writing directly to the company, without any representation. They have acknowledged my claim via their solicitor but have not communicated with me directly. What are the possible outcomes of this? I have only claimed for a fraction of my contract value to cover the difference in income as I was able to mitigate the full loss by taking on additional work. Thanks!

They have replied to you. That is what they engaged solicitors for.

Look at the reply very carefully, along with your contract and all other relevant information. If you consider that you have a strong claim and that you can deal with the company's grounds for refusing your claim, you may need to bring it through the court.

Beyond that, the possible outcomes that I can identify are:

    1. You decide to take it no furter.

    2. You settle, possibly through mediation.

    3. You bring a case and win.

    4. You bring a case and lose.

    There may be other possibilities.
