  • Position being threatened without performance or official management

    Hello,

I would like to sharey partners current situation for thoughts and feedback as I'm finding the behaviour extremely strange.

Partners has 5+ years with current company. She has had multiple promotions and is well respected by her colleagues, almost overly relied upon by them.

A new senior manager has joined from a company in business two months into her current New role. All feedback was strong that she was doing well, then there was a strange behavioural change and the new senior manager started being heavily critical in an unstructured way.

She passed her probation without any issues raised and was asked to take out the company car scheme payment over a direct company car which entails her to get a loan to purchase a modern car.

Since then her performance has been brought into question by this individual however never in a structured meeting, always catching her out on calls and in office. No written or verbal action provided as to what wasn't working. The role also has changed but nothing in writing received or out lined what that change is.

Following this she was called out of the blue to be told she wasn't up to the job and that should identify a job in the team with no options before Christmas leave. No grounds or no formal conversation.

Since then she then spoke to her director who had said this individual had been saying she didn't want the job, which was not true. However this director has put their heads on the line by bringing in this manager and old associate.

She has since been asked about what job she wants by the individual and the director with no options given. She has now been working long hours and her colleagues rely on her heavily.

Out of the blue she was called today to meet both the manager and director away from home just to talk about this. No option given as to what an alternative position would be with the se remuneration. She had verbally said if this is the job then struggling with all of the behaviour and lack of support or being told what's she isn't achieving and needs to work on.

She has said she would move job but wants to understand her options. They have asked her to write to them to say she doesn't want this job anymore (off record)

I have automatically said not to that under any circumstance. It would allow them to potentially remove salary or benefits.

There is a lot of off the record conversations as this has already been a case of bullying and cohesion however nothing official on paper (which I would guess is on purpose) She has also been threatened with a Performance improvement plan despite no steps or 1-2-1 taken on this.

What would be the best advice on tackling these people and how to respond to basically writing in an email you don't want the position with no recourse.

    Thanks in advance.
