Good evening all, this may seem really petty but wanted to see if my view is correct or I have no basis for my claim.
I have worked for the same company for 28 years, no workplace issues, warnings or complaint's against me and I think am a good worker. My company awards long service awards on a basis of years worked and with the obligatory certificate comes a financial award from the company. Here lies my gripe, 28 years and no award yet members of my team who are my direct reports have such certificates and been awarded financial payments too.
What driven me to ask this question today, is my boss walking in the office tonight, when coming from a large internal meeting carrying a certificate and cheque for 20 yrs service, an age range that I was told we do not recognise anymore. But his comment of "do you have one of these" left a bad taste in my mouth.
So is this practice "indirect discrimination" as the practice of awarding such awards is done throughout the company by our MD and FD?
Thanks in advance. Steve
