  • Long storey, desperate for advice

Hi and thank you for allowing me to join your forum.
I would like some advice if possible and I apologise for my lengthy post.
so I have worked for a police service for approximately 15 years. They accepted me knowing I had depression and that I was on anti depressants ( life long depression since a teenager). Jump to 10 years and due to funding cuts I was told I’d be redeployed into another job role. Around a year into this my old role became available and so I applied but was told I was not suitable due to my depression and medication. After a 2 year battle I was offered the role ( which was in my old location)however on accepting I was told I’d now been moved a good 2 hour drive from my original base, so , I had to decline. They have no reason for this move other than, in my eyes, knowing I could not accept it. I continued in my current role however I found it to be very clicky. Repeatedly over the years I’ve been ignored by work colleagues and shunned if I try to join in conversations or help with a task. Simple things like offering everyone a drink every time I was out of the room so I’d be left out, people turning there backs on me if I tried to join in a group chat, the list went on. This was only done when supervisors were not there, or sometimes it also involved some of them. Im a very hard worker yet if was trying to do a job, they would suddenly do it, then complain I wasn’t doing anything.
I have attempted to speak to my supervisor but he just laughs it off, I then attempted to speak to my manager who then just passed it back to my supervisor. This has started to severely affect my mental health and so I asked to be referred to occupational health. This took almost 2 months to do, and was only done after I constantly asked both my supervisor and manager. The reply was a copy and paste email with links to counselling. I feel totally trapped. These people are turning even my friends against me and work now is unbearable. I have asked for help yet have gotten now where. Im on the verge of going sick but I know they’ll put me on a stage 1 if I do.
please, im really sorry for the long post.
    desperate for some advice
    best wishes

Good morning and welcome to the site ☺️

Okay so legally your organisation should have a policy on bullying that says how it should be handled.

Even if there’s no policy, your employer has a legal duty of care to protect you while you’re at work. This includes dealing with bullying issues.

I would recommend keeping a diary and record dates of when these instances occurred and note down any future instances. Especially write down about your supervisor and manager. Get into contact with your Union Rep immediately.

If your supervisor or manager is ignoring your case or won’t transfer you to a different base causing you to leave the job, the proof you gather (diary) will be evidence towards a constructive dismissal claim. However there are steps before you get to the claim stage.

    I hope this helps.

Additionally, email your supervisor and manager to set up a meeting about how your colleagues are treating you. I understand that you have tried in the past but you will have written evidence that you have brought theses instances to their attention.
