  • Off work with Anxiety

    I am currently off work with anxiety, however work is still contacting me about a potential redundancy the very reason i am off work.

    They are now giving me short deadlines to reply to emails

    What can i do?
    Is this legal?

    offering you potential redundancy - yes they can (but within rules) and if you are unable to attend work then as an employer concerns as to fitness of job may come into mind, effect also goes onto to others who may be extending their job description due to your condition??? if that reason is why you have redundancy then move on and find another job (we have all had to at some stage) and see what they offer, in some countries you are just told to go as no work/ or employment now available _ seen it many a time no recompense. Reality check for you if you maybe???

      Is this related to your thread "Consultation for redundancy, roles already bein advertised prior to consultation". If so then it is far better for those of us trying to provide support if it is all contained on the one thread, in that way we can ensure any advice we provide takes into account the complete picture.

      If the company is undergoing a redunancy process then they have an obligation to consult with employees. I presume the emails are in relation to the process and when you say short-timescales to respond what are these?

        How long have you had the anxiety condition for? Your employer is obliged to look at implementing reasonable adjustments to avoid placing you at any disadvantage throughout this process. If you need more time to respond to emails - then ask. I'm sure that they will oblige to this.
