  • Notice period on Voluntary redundancy

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this has ever come up but normally the notice period of a compulsory redundancy should start the next day the employee has been advised.

If the terms of a voluntary redundancy have been agreed and nothing has changed from the proposal and accepting the voluntary redundancy request, can notice period start on the day that the employee has been told their voluntary redundancy request has been agreed?

    Thanks

Once a request for voluntary redundancy has been accepted then the company should write to you confirming the details of the arrangement and your notice period comes into effect from the moment you are formally advised of your leaving date which will ordinarily be included in this confirmation.

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
