  • About the notice period start day

Just a small question am pondering. I need to give a 2 weeks notice to end my contract. Situation: Today Friday afternoon I passed the notice in the office to the boss's son who works in the office and passes all papers to my boss who works from home currently. In the office he asked me to call the boss also. I did not call but I did text my boss after the work at about 9pm. I want my notice period to start on coming Monday. Is today counted as the day "when the notice was given" even though I did not inform the boss daytime? I gave the paper to the company (the person who deals with the employees papers) in the office, but did not call the boss. The boss works from home so I cannot pass it to my boss directly. Thank you

Did you put the date on your resignation letter of today's date 31 July 2020?

Yes I did. I also took videos /pics me in their office with the paper. But, the main point is that I did not pass it to boss (because boss does not work at the office) but I passed it to office worker who takes care of the workers papers currently.
Its just that I dont want to work any more there bce of my situation .

My opinion is that your resignation letter is dated yesterday's date so that is when your two week notice takes effect from.
