  • Unpaid work?

    Good Morning,*
I applied for a position with a company as a grounds maintenance operative and was offered a work trial. At no point was this trail stated as unpaid. I have alot of experience in this role and was self employed previous to this. I attended this work trial which was supposed to be a day (8.5 hours). I ended up working an hour overtime, had to supply my own ppe and covid measures. The job was shocking and i emailed the employer to let him know i would not be taking the job. I asked if he would like an invoice for works carried out. The reply was that it was a voluntarily worked day. If this was to be previously stated i would have refused the trail as nobody should have to work for nothing thats slave labour. I have invoiced him and sent a reminder yet he is still claiming that its a work trial and unpaid. Where do i stand? Some people have advised me to let it go but i dont want to. As a self employed person ive had too many unpaid invoices from lowlife like this.
