  • Unpaid leave in progress cancellation attempt

    Hi, Quick simple question.
Can my employer cancel my already in progress unpaid leave or force me back to work even if they know that the reason for this leave is that I don't have anyone to take care about my kids (7y & 4y) ??
Due to covid-19 the grandparents cannot come to help due to them living abroad. And I feel like I am being harassed by my manager about it. The leave was approved without any problems a month ago. It is due to finished on 18th of May.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi, was the agreement to take this leave under your entitlement to take unpaid parental leave? if so did you provide the required 21 day notice and did you get written confirmation that you could take the stated length of time off as parental leave?

If so then I am not sure how they can require you to return back to work before the agreed date of your return. Have they given any reason as to why they want you to return?

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
