  • Losing my job

Hi, I was working for a health care company through an agency. I had to work 12 weeks then after that the company was going to employ me. I asked again regarding my permanent job to be told I would get a full time job. On my last day they decided to let me go, no warning or anything, they knew I'd just got my own place and my mother had cancer. No thought no concern or anything. They took another driver on straight away? I had no explanation as to why they didnt keep me on, I've been lied to and treat unfairly. Is there anything I can do?

Hi I am sorry to hear about your situation.

Did you get any offer letter from the company?

Was there any verbal confirmation of the terms that you would be employed under with the company?

Yes there was only verbal confirmation between myself and the warehouse manager but nothing in writing. Why let me go then employ someone else straight away?

The issue may be whether the warehouse manager had any authority to make a verbal commitment to say they would give you a permanent job.

I presume you were employed by the agency so I think your only option here is to go back to the agency and ask them to find you another assignment as soon as possible. Unfortunately based on what you have posted I am not sure there is anything you can do.
