Can an employee give up a statutory right to appeal a dismissal?

Although an employee has the right to appeal a decision to dismiss them, they are not obligated to appeal. In the letter confirming the dismissal an employee will be given the right to appeal the decision within a certain number of days. If they do not submit the appeal in that timescale then they have given up the right to appeal. *
