HI all,
I have had a few issues at work for a few months where I think my manager is trying to bully me out of the company. SInce late last year he has started to favour other team members over me where I think it is obvious I am not in the wrong. I kept quiet but after about five major issues I decided to write to him two months ago asking for an explanation. I also adivsed HR and they have sat in on a couple of meetings with me and him.
Everytime I raise one of the issues he comes back with a new issue and puts me on the back foot. On each occasion it is the first time I have heard about the issue although he tells me it is based on feedback from supervisers.
Today I used a shared computer and one of those supervisers had left their emails signed in. It happened to be on a feedback email my line manager had requested from all the supervisers, about all of the team members I am part of (six of us in all). I was devastated to see this superviser had marked me 2/10 compared to an average of 7/10. This superviser has never once in three years uttered a negative word to me. Indeed, on a relatively recent occasion when I was working late to rectify a problem my line manager had created, this superviser questioned why I hadn't asked my LM to come in and do it himself.
I don't know what to do. My LM has told us all of the feedback from supervisers is "anonymous" and yet I think I am being victimised and part of a stitch up. Even though I have seen his feedback email only because he forgot to sign out, am I able to bring it to anybody's attention (eg HR) to say I think I am being managed out? Surely a superviser can only give written negative feedback if they can prove they have tried to improve performance by talking to the employee first?
Any feedback is very much appreciated (ps I am in a trade union and they advised me to go straight down th grievance route weeks ago - suggesting I had grounds to prove my LM was low level bullying. However my wife is a former HR adviser and cautioned me against this route, claiming the TU were gung ho. I dont know what to do!!!).
