Hi my daughter has three young children and has just moved jobs due to medical issues and the new job being closer to her home and hours are right as she saves on child care. Here is the issue though she has signed a contract agreeing to a set number of hours however the company have not done her police checks at the moment so they have not given her any of the shifts she agreed to and has not worked for the last 2 weeks as there is no training she needs to do. As she claims universal credit she is now in dire straits as she cannot pay bills or buy food for the grand kids surly they have to pay her and give her hours advice please

Is your daughter on a permanent contract?
What was the contractual start date of your daughter's contract?
Did the contract state that the offer was being made subject to satisfactory completion of checks such as references and in this case a police check - I presume you mean a DBS check which can take a number of weeks to complete?
