  • Job Evaluation & Grading

    Hi,

I work for a government department and some years ago my job underwent a JEGs process resulting in my job being evaluated at a higher grade. There is no difference whatsoever between the roles and it was recommended that teams should be made up of the Officer grade. Nothing was done about it.

My question is, is there any legal obligation for my employer to implement their findings? Can I challenge this?

    Kind regards

I do not have much knowledge of JEGs but I do know that government departments do have fairly detailed grading structures. Was it just your job that was evaluated or were there many jobs? If the latter have the findings not been implemented for all or just some of you?

Has something happened to trigger you looking into this considering it was some years ago
    that the evaluation took place.
Have you mentioned your concerns in the past to anyone?
Has your manager made any mention of why the evaluation has not been put in place, if not have you thought about raising the question albeit some time ago?

I know of no legal obligation to implement the findings but it may be worth checking whether there is any reference to mandating job evaluation findings in any employment policies/procedures in place.

      Hi Ula,

thanks for responding. I will check to see if there is a mandate and then reply properly.

      Kind regards
