  • Redundancy and re-employment by the same company

    I was made redundant on the 16th of December and received a statutory payout, However I've been offered a job (completely different role) this week by the same company in a different role.
    I was under the impression that once made redundant by a company you couldn't be re-employed by the same company for 3 months and keep the pay out, Is this right or I am I wrong

    A short answer would be yes, your ex employer can re-employ you and there is no legal minimum time limit in doing so.

      Just to add to James_Law's post just make sure they are not re-hiring on the basis of “continuity of employment” (i.e. they are treating it as though the redundancy was never made). If your job offer is giving you a new start date with the company, for the purpose of continuous employment, then you are not required to return any statutory redundancy payment.
