    If my employer uses the "17 weeks reference" to average my hours, what happens if I take 2 weeks leave in the middle of that 17 weeks?
    Does it not change anything and remain 17 calendar weeks, or does it become 17 work weeks (19 calendar weeks)?

    Do you get statutory holiday entitlement i.e. 20 days plus 8 days bank holiday?

    If so then in the 17 week reference period you have for example 4 days holiday, your company has to aggregate the hours you have worked over the 17 weeks excluding the days you were on holiday but to that figure they have to add the number of hours you have worked in the four days immediately after the end of the 17 week reference period. Then divide this figure by 17.

      Hi, I get 25 holiday days, plus bank hols. So I guess the above applies, thanks for the reply

        Not necessarily so you get 25 days plus bank holidays which is more than the basic entitlement. So the two weeks holiday you took off was this the first of your holiday entitlement in the holiday year or have you already taken holiday previously, if so how many days?

        For the example calculation given at post #2 to apply the holiday would need to be part of the first 20 days holiday you have taken in your holiday year.
