    Sunday working

    HI I'm currently employed as a retail worker who opted out of working Sundays many years ago . My employer has just rota'd me in for a Sunday shift over the Xmas period and says they have the right to opt us back in at anytime...Is this true.....They have given me 4 weeks notice because this isn't part of my normal working pattern.
    I thought if I have opted out they can't just opt me back on when they want too?

    As far as I'm aware it's the Employment Rights Act 1996 which covers this and it doesn't seem to give any facility for the employer to opt you back in to Sunday working.

      The employer cannot opt you back into Sunday working. It can only happen by you writing to your employer asking to be opted back in to Sunday working.
