Hi all.
My wife is a non-EU citizen. She lives here with me in the UK, she has a residency permit and permission to work.
However, despite being a highly skilled and experienced scientist, she is not getting any response to any job she applied for. She is relegated to doing menial laboratory assistant work on short temporary contracts for little more than minimum wage.
Now someone has told me that EU law prevents employers hiring non-EU citizens if an EU citizen meets the minimum criteria for the role. I cannot find any reference to this. Can anyone confirm this (or otherwise) and perhaps paste a link so I can have a look.
Many thanks
Robson.
