Void contract?

I have a question about a contract I have signed from my now previous employer.

I am being taken to court for training costs, and I am currently collating evidence. However I have noticed something within the contract that was presented to me initially.

My question is this - can a contract be signed on behalf of the employer by someone who is not actually employed under that company name? The person that signed the contract worked for a sister company that has a completely separate name and address. They also have just signed it, so there is no name underneath the signature to say who the signature belongs to and it does not state 'signed on behalf of' and the employers name.

Is it worth noting that the person who signed this contract no longer works for the company?

Would any of the above question the contract's validity?

This is the thing. She didn’t work FOR the company I was employed at. Before I started, the owner had a company (the one I was later employed at) and then years after she bought a company off of someone else that had a different name and address. The person that signed the contract was employed at that company. But they signed my contract?

So basically they didn’t work under the same company name as me?

If the person was authorised by the owner of the company to sign on behalf of the company then there is no issue.

It may also be worth noting that even if the contract haf not been signed by the company then it does not mean that the terms of the employment have not been agreed.
