  • Suspended - safeguarding accusations

Hi, I have been suspended from working in a school because a member(s) of staff have made false accusations claiming I have said horrid things about Sen children! I have not made these statements & do not think that way!

My line manager & I went to school with each other & she’s had it in for me since I started, don’t know why! I know she’s spearheading this!

I dont want to go back to work there & all my loved ones are gutted for me as they know I pose no threat to any child; I’m passionate about what I do!

I Am worried though, that if I’m dismissed on safeguarding grounds, will this effect my dbs & career as a whole?

    please help!

Try not to worry. At the moment they are carrying out an investigation the outcome of which may be that there is no case to answer and no further action will be taken, or if disciplinary action is to be taken then they will need to decide whether it amounts to gross misconduct.

In terms of your DBS, unless the matter is reported to the police and they decide to take action, then if you were to be dismissed it would not show up on any future DBS check. However, the issue may arise with any reference the school may be asked to provide to prospective future employers, if they are asked to state the reason that you left and it would depend on whether they just stated dismissal or whether they stated dismissal due to safeguarding issues.

At the moment I would take this one step at a time and see what happens as a result of the investigation first.
