  • Am I liable

I work for a delivery company and yesterday I dropped the tablet they give is to us scan goods off for customers, it was an accident it just fell out my hands, I've told them this and I hold my hands up to it. The one i have today has a screen protector but The tablet I broke didn't have a screen protector on it and this might have made a difference as the screen was smashed, I had to sign I document to say I had to pay for the repair I propably shouldnt have signed straight away but there was a big que of people behind me and the managers were in a rush, as I've signed the form there's probably nothing I can do about but if i turn up for work and the tablet in the van doesn't have a screen protector on it what can I do? Surley my employer has the responiablty to protect the equipment fully especially as we are liable for them. That little slip has cost me £80 which is almost a days pay, so I've ended up going to work for nothing
