Making up hours for bank holiday

My company runs 2 shifts one do 8 hours a day 5 days a week an I do 10 hours a afternoon 4 days a week. Every bank holiday my shift are told we have to make up 2 hours as early shift do 4 shifts that week equalling 32 hours and my shift do 3 shifts equalling 30 hours! Is there a law to say we have to make up these hours? Or are my company just making us work 2 hours for basic rate?? Would appreciate any help an thanks in advance!

Is the business closed on bank holidays? You at you work 4 days a week - what days do your normally work?
