I work for a company that is carrying out a reappraisal of all job roles. They have told me that my present job will disappear and that I will have to use a hand held computer. I have some learning disabilities but can use a pc, iPad and smartphone at home. I have been told that I am not suitable to use a hand held computer at work and so will not be able to continue to work in my present department. They have not offered me any training or help to learn and use this hand held computer. They have also said it is unlikely there will be another job available. Is this discrimination under the Equality Act 2010? If there is no job available is this classed as constructive dismissal because of my learning disabilities? I would very much appreciate anybody's opinion and advice. Thank you.

If a workplace feature or practice puts an employee with a disability at a disadvantage, an employer should look to see what 'reasonable adjustments' it can make and meet with the person to discuss what can be done to help.
In this instance your employer should discuss with you the change to using a hand held computer and firstly see, whether with maybe additional training specifically for your needs, you would be able to operate the computer or can they consider your use of another device that will still allow you to carry out your job? Are there any suggestions you can make in terms of a reasonable adjustment that would allow you to continue on the job?
