I wonder if anybody can point me in the right direction ?
My younger daughter is looking to start a Foundation Course next September. The reason being that she has not gained the necessary education/experience yet to do the Degree course (in Illustration) she wants to do and has been advised that she should do a Foundation Course in that subject first to gain the necessary experience/qualification to get onto the Degree Course the following year.
Now I know that she can get a Student Loan when she eventually gets onto the Degree Course. However, Foundation Courses are free to do (in Wales anyway), but one obviously cannot get a Student Loan for such a course.
My question is if anyone is aware of ANY financial assistance she may qualify for to help her through the one-year foundation course. If she can at least qualify for a free bus-pass it would help her cause (she is planning to attend the local University in Swansea for the foundation course).
I've tried finding this information through Student Wales and also on the Local Authority website, without success.
It may also be worth mentioning that her older sister is already studying a Degree Course (in the same University as it happens) and that by the time the younger daughter starts the Foundation Course, the older daughter will be on her final year of her degree course.
Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/experience of this please ?
