About the Natwest Student Account

Hi everybody, I'm totally a newcomer here.

I'm going to join the Nottingham University this September so I will need a bank account in UK. The Nott university uses Natwest so I think I'll open an account in that bank as well just for the convenience. Since I'm an international student, the only available option seems to be the Student Account and I have some problems with the Student Credit Card.

Natwest's stated that:

Control your spending – with a £500 maximum credit limit

does that mean I can not make any purchase over £500 or let say I can not use the Student Credit card to buy a £1000 laptop at Amazon?

If you are an international student you have to prove you have funding of £5000.00 once your fees have been paid. Furthermore, you are ineligible for the overdraft on the account. The Credit card limit is a non negotiable one so the answer is you would not be able to buy the £1000.00 laptop with your credit card but you might be able to do so with your debit Visa card.
