    Please can anybody tell me what the hell this is all about that appeared on parents whatsapp group?
    Does anybody else know about this? Apparently it's national? Thankyou

    As someone who hears these cases I have not had any official notification but there is still time! It has always been the case that if parents are not together the fine is per parent per child. Even single fines not paid end up in court.

      So this is not just academys it's state schools as well? And where does the money go?

        All schools as far as I am aware. The local authority gets the fines initially I expect. Once it goes to court the fine will be a % of weekly income - don't know where that goes!

          National (England only), all state schools (academy and local authority), a decision by the government to tighten up rules for parents taking children out of school for holidays etc.

          The fines go to The Treasury. When local councils issue a penalty notice they keep a small amount to cover their costs of administering the scheme but otherwise central government gets the money. As they generally do with all court fines too.
