Refund refused

Hi everyone - I am hoping that you can help me with an issue. I had booked rental van and was asked to pay the full rental fee Ł150 upfront - I later decided to cancel this hire the company is refusing to refund this payment saying that they do not offer refunds although that was never mentioned at any time during the booking process. Do I take them to small claims court? Can anyone advise?
