Hi
A month ago I visited my tesco which i do nearly everyday as it is a two minute walk from my work.
On this day, I went into Tescos and I got my lunch and picked up another couple of items and went to the self-service tills as usual. I scanned each item (this can be verified by the CCTV which I watched on the date in question) but unfortunately (an unknown to myself) the lip liner did not register. Therefore when I was leaving the store the alarm sounded and the Store Detective - whom I might add was very arrogant - checked my tesco bag. He accused me of stealing which I blatantly denied. I told him I had scanned everything and asked him to show me the CCTV. This all took place at the front door of the Tesco Store - which I found quite embarrassing. I would have assumed that he should have taken me into the office if he was accusing me of shop-lifting. I have an impeccable record and want to keep it that way. I have never in my life stole anything.
I watched myself on CCTV which was very funny as it was just me doing some shopping like anyone else. He then said he needs my details because then he has to write a report of what happened in which he will include my say ( yeah right! )
I then repeatedly asked if i could now pay for the item which he said not this one, as if it was a police scene!!! it had been in the tesco bag 30 seconds!
After the 2 minute chat he let me go? no police called nothing?
I have contacted tesco who have have supported there team and i have nothing but wasted my time by asking them for advice and to view this situation
I now have received my second letter from RLP demanding £89.50! I wish i had just stole as i am receiving the same punishment as a thief!
Due to Tescos machine not telling me that i had placed something not scanned in the bagging area which it normally does i did not know that i had not paid for something!!
Please can anyone help as in what i should reply to RLP...
