Do you have a copy of the resolution form you can post up, suitably redacted.
The resolution form is an agreement you sign detailing a particular manner in which you agreed to redeem yourself.
If you don't complete the resolution the case could be returned to the justice system.
What did you agree to do?

i didnt agree to do anything...all they said was that i was banned from the shop and i should be expecting a fine....the made me sign the resolution form and then they handed me a piece of paper about the RLP.
the police man said i wasnt arrested and no charges were going to be made.
the form says 'the victim has intimated that she/he is willing to have this matter dealt with informally and provide you an opportunity to make recompense for your actions. this is voluntary and if you agree and complete the process you will not be subject to any further police investigation, failure to complete the agreed actions will result in legal action being taken against you'

as i have been advised to ignore the RLP, will they inform the police? im so worried

IMO you had an opportunity to make recompense to the retailer and fulfilled your part by returning the items in a saleable condition. The retailer was thereby recompensed and lost nothing,
and you had completed the agreed action.

Hi I have received my second letter today. I have attached a picture. The letter is titled 'letter before claim'


Can you read through this and let me know if this is a 'normal' second letter from the RLP? It has come just before my uni exams and I'm already incredibly stressed. If this is a usual letter, am I still safe to ignore all letters?


Also they sent a FAQ sheet and it says their claim is NOT a speculative invoice...which is different to what I've been told
I just need to know if I am safe to ignore this letter and also any other future letters from them.

A frequently asked question sheet... With questions such as 'surely I don't have to pay you guys?' and answers such as 'Of course you do'
I claim I'm a irresistible babe magnet... Emmm does that make it true???

That letter should say 'we have put this worthless bit of paper out to try and junk some money out of you.... We have put this on hold for 21 days in the hope that you will sweat and toss and turn in bed and finally decide that you can't deal with the stress and cough up to be done with it', 'failing that we will have absolutely no option but to go off and sulk'......

Hi Unhappy1, I'm going through something quite similar. I've been keeping an eye on threads on LB, including yours (des8, above, linked to my thread - thanks to all for your advice and comments). It seems you received your second letter from them just under a month after the first? If so, I can expect mine in the last week of April so I'll be on the lookout and will post a suitably redacted image of whatever comes here for further advice.

This is a standard letter from RLP, which can safely be ignored.
The letters (including possibly some from other debt collectors) have been known to continue for up to 8 months.
If you enter into a dialogue with them, they see it as a sign of weakness and increase the pressure.
As you are moving soon I would suggest you arrange for your mail to be forwarded to your new address.
If you don't, and the post is returned to RLP, they could well obtain a CCJ against you without you knowing anything about it, or being able to contest any court proceedings.

Hi I hope I don't get judged for this and I really regret it. I'm 16 and was caught shoplifting £15 worth or goods from boots, the packaging was damaged so they couldn't resell it and I didn't have the money to pay for it. The police didn't get involved the boots security guard just took me to my dads car and told him I shoplifted and I was banned from boots. I recieved a letter from the RLP saying I had to pay a fine of £147.50 and I ignored it,". I've now received another letter saying I have 21 days to contact them or they will send a letter to my parents. Only my dad knows and I don't want my mom and or sister to find out as it would be humiliating. I recently applied to college and I was wondering if not paying the fine could affect if I get accepted or not. Does RLP have the authority to contact my parents and what happens if I ignore this letter? Please don't judge me and I hope that someone gives me some advice on what to do, they s was totally out of character for me and I never did it before. I'm scared and unsure of what to do

Can you talk to your dad about it?? The common consensus here on LB is to ignore letters from RLP If you could possibly show your dad this thread, he might surprise you and agree
