I came across this fascinating site while researching RLP.... I hope you haven't already stooped reading!
I have read all the info on this site about RLP and their dubious doings, and I’m sorry to return to this tedious topic
My friend’s daughter was caught shoplifting in Boots a few weeks ago. The goods were handed back to the store undamaged and the police were called. The police gave her an informal warning (not a caution) as she is only 16 and has a previously unblemished record.
She has now received the usual bumf from RLP, (demanding £203.52) and before I was asked for advice her mother had written to them to say she is 16, has absolutely no income beyond the small sum her mum gives her to get to college and buy a sandwich, but RLP have written back demanding payment at £20 pm plus charges of 1.50 per instalment.
Clearly because of her age I guess they cannot make such a legally binding arrangement.
My suggestion to her Mum will be to have no further contact with RLP and to ignore anything else that arrives from them. Is that the correct approach – or is there a ‘killer’ letter she might send?
