  • Online returns charges

    Hi
Last week I received a letter from a well known online store saying that I owe them money from an item I returned was the wrong one they received back. ( I have already recieved the refund on the item weeks ago )The letter was from the online loss prevention team. “If you don’t pay it within 7 working days civil proceedings will be issued against you by the civil recovery partner for the debt, this will include costs also interest “.
i phoned them up only to be told they do it all by email and letters ( this was the fraud department not the loss prevention team ) she said something about lots of returns.
    i panicked and paid it.
I am now panicking that I am going to get more letters regarding other items retuned.
i did shut this account down with they self weeks ago.
i hope this is making sense. This is making me I’ll. I am being carful that I say.
will police be involved and what do I do now if I get anymore?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

        Hi Holly

        Welcome to LB

You need to provide a lot more information about what has happened, what they are accusing you of.

If you buy something and return it, then they will want that exact stock back. One error is understandable, more then one, you leave yourself open to claims.

Depending on what the product is, most products have serial numbers, batch numbers, etc. They have technology to flag up all sorts of things i.e. mismatch in their stock levels on products etc.

The other party claims to have suffered a loss and wants its money back. That is a civil claim.
