    Hello

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from a security guard at a local Sainsbury’s saying my 16 year old son had been caught shoplifting. I told them I would come down as I refused to give my address over the phone to a stranger. On my way down my son called to say he’d been let go. Today my son received a letter from DWF to say he owes £3.55 (he had a babybell on the way round the isles) and £150 in security costs. Can someone help me challenge this please

    Hi XXJENNXX

    Welcome to LB

What you have received is a speculative invoice, no breakdown of actual costs. Security costs are built into their business model. You will receive several letters, each one sightly more aggressive, just ignore them. It's clearly an innocent mistake and an over zealous security guard. Just get on with your day to day lives.

Thank you for the advice. Will this have any effect on his credit rating?

        No it won't.

Update the thread if anything materializes.
