  • Stole from m&s very worried

Did my shopping in m&s as I do every week with my partner. When we use the self scan till we dont always scan everything saving maybe £20.

This time we didn't scan lots of stuff. We were in a rush which is no excuse but noticed a security guy watching us as stupidly we made it obvious. We didn't scan maybe £80 worth of stuff. As we were leaving I noticed the security guy go straight to the till we used and look up what items we bought but we left very quickly and he didnt have any time to stop us.

My worry is will they be able to find out who we are from the till/store cctv, find out who we are from our debit card or even find out who we are from the car registration we left in?

Will they contact the police and give cctv/card details, reg number? Whats the chances of the police contacting us? My partner is extremely worried about losing her job or getting a criminal record as she works for NHS.

We obviously won't be doing it again. We wont be returning to that m&s store or any of them in fact.

No I don't. They would just have our images on cctv and my partner used her debt card to pay for the items we scanned. And maybe the car registration.

Well, they have enough information to identify her, and possibly review previous transactions.

So we are screwed? Anxiety through the roof for us both. I know our faults but very worried about getting criminal record? Would the police turn up to our door or would it be a letter. Would it be prison time? Feel sick.

You might wish to ask yourself what evidence there is that you stole any items.

Would cctv pick up on not scanning some items? My partner just told me the guy wasn't security he was m&s staff. He would of definitely seen some things that we didn't pay for as the last few items we put into the bag without scanning.

What's the chances of being sent to jail or going to court?
