  • DWF's 3rd Letter, What to do?

    Hi everybody,

I've read a lot about this already but I just wanted to post my case and get your direct answers.

Due to some complicated financial circumstances, I was caught shoplifting, which is something that I highly regret. No goods were lost, they retrieved the stuff and I was only issued a ban and police were not contacted.

A few weeks go by and I start receiving letters from DWF claiming that I owe them £150 in security costs, I'm pretty sure you already know who these guys are.

Now, I documented myself a lot and read an infinite number of threads everywhere on the internet saying that they have no rights in claiming that money.

I also reached out to a solicitor via JustAnswer and her answer was that I should pay it off if I can not bear the risk of being sued by the company.

I received a 3rd letter a few days ago where they say that should I not pay I could risk a court action, a bailiff coming to my house to retrieve goods of the value of the fine, and my credit score being affected.

My only concern is that I don't want my credit score to be affected by this situation, nor do I want the "fee" costs to increase due to a call to court.

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks a lot!

P.S. Today is the last day I have to pay the DWF fine otherwise I suppose they will be sending another letter.

    Just keep ignoring them.
You owe nothing, and they are just a law firm that thinks it is OK to threaten people.
They are an international firm of lawyers who should know better than set themselves up as judge and jury in their own version of a justice system

Your credit record will not be affected, and if you should go to court you will be the first for many years.
Since a similar company lost heavily (https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...h-and-the-lies) none of them have been near court, so most unlikely you will either
