A relative ordered a kitchen in February from a popular DIY store but has been unable to take delivery due initially to difficulty scheduling fitters but then ongoing ill health and nowhere to store it. No money has changed hands and they are wondering if they can cancel or where they stand if they do?

Just add the husbands deteriorating health has meant rearranging the home to accommodate his needs and the upheaval and changes to kitchen will confuse matters for him. The kitchen is standard not customised and has remained in the shops warehouse. They had a payment plan but organised to start on delivery. They of course lose any deposit but can they cancel?

I will ask to view although I believe the finance automatically cancels after a year if not taken up and buyer would need to reapply for finance. I don’t think they wanted to use finance and have monies to pay. It’s not about money it’s purely the health issues that have overwhelmed them and causing need to cancel any upheaval for the foreseeable.
