  • Police statement

Hi my other half foolishly moved work targets in his job so it would give him more commission this was between December 2019 and Jan 2020. He was dismissed from his work in Feb 2020.
Today he got a visit from the police to ask him to come to the station tomorrow to go over a statement of what he had dine and give an interview.
Police officer said he didn't didn't anyone to go with him that it was just to close the case but I'm apprehensive and not sure if he should attend.
    any advice?

Always get a solicitor - duty solicitor is free.

as dslippy he should not attend without being accompanied by a solicitor, his own or the (free) duty solicitor..

He needs to contact the police and tell them he will not attend wiuthout the presence of a solicitor and the interview needs to be re arranged.

When accused of criminal acts there is no such thing as a "pleasant chat with the police", "you won't need to be accompanied" etc

This is particularly so where a likely outcome would be a caution for an offence of dishonesty against his employer.

Should of mentioned we are from Ireland. I don't think we have duty solicitors here. Thank you all for replying

You do have a Garda station Legal Advice scheme (https://www.legalaidboard.ie/en/lawy...evised-scheme/) which might be worth exploring
