In 2016 I made the mistake of walking out of Morrisons with two bags of mini eggs in my trolley. I had a letter from DWF asking for a £100, which I paid. At the time I didn't know that I could ignore the letter. The police weren't called so there were no criminal charges.
Fast forward to now I've been offered a job in a bank and been asked to fill out a background check. It wasn't complicated, but it asked if I'd had a deed of arrangement in the last 6 years, I don't know what this means but after being told it involves credit card debt repayment I answered no to the question. But now I'm worried that my mistake in 2016 is going to come up on the background check. I've email the recruitment team and explained it to them in case it does, because I'd rather be honest up front.
Does anyone know if it will come up on the background check? Or is it treated as a fine and then that's the end of it, like a parking ticket?
Thanks!
