I received a demand for £150, issued by RLP on behalf of Boots.
16 at the time, I was apprehended by security before leaving the store. I had put 2 products into my pocket because I forgot to get a shopping basket and had a handful of shopping from another retailer, this totalled to £14 (all intact and perfectly re-saleable then and prior to). I looked around the store a while and was apprehended by security as I walked towards the exit. My details were taken in a back room where the security guard sympathised with my honest mistake, he said I was innocent but let it be a lesson, in return I didn't blame him for doing his job. I was more than cooperative, returning both products as soon as I had realised. I signed a banning letter (3 year) and was dismissed to walk out on my own.
The demand is absurd given that there was no loss for their product (re-saleable) and 30 minutes at most of the security guard's time which shouldn't even be factored into the payment.
